Outboard Repair in Groveland, FL

Groveland boaters are a short drive from the shop, so getting your outboard looked at doesn’t mean hauling it across the state. I service and repair Yamaha, Mercury, Suzuki and Tohatsu outboards: oil changes, gear lube, water pumps, spark plugs, diagnostics and repair, with an itemized estimate before any work starts.

On the water around Groveland

Smaller lakes, smaller motors, same care

From Lake David downtown to the smaller lakes and ponds around town, a lot of Groveland boating is jon boats, bass boats and pontoons running small and mid-size outboards. Plenty of those boats also trailer over to the Clermont Chain of Lakes on the weekend.

Smaller motors get less attention than big ones, and that’s usually where trouble starts:

  • Won’t start after sitting. Fuel that sits in Florida heat is the usual suspect on a motor that only runs now and then.
  • Worn impellers. Shallow, sandy launches and running the motor without water both chew them up.
  • Skipped gear lube changes. Small lower units hold little oil, so water in it does damage fast.
  • Weak batteries and corroded connections that look like a bad motor but aren’t.

A little routine service keeps a small outboard reliable for years. That’s most of what I do.

FAQ

Questions from Groveland boaters

How far is the shop from Groveland?

A short drive. When you book online I confirm the time by email, and we sort out drop-off then.

My small tiller outboard won’t start after sitting. Can you fix it?

Usually, yes. Motors that sit, especially in the heat, often have fuel-related starting problems. I’ll diagnose it and email an itemized estimate before doing any work.

Do you work on pontoon and jon boat outboards?

Yes. If it’s a Yamaha, Mercury, Suzuki or Tohatsu outboard, it doesn’t matter what boat it’s hanging on.

Can I bring my own parts?

Yes. I can source and install everything, or you can supply your own parts if you’d rather shop around. It’s noted on the estimate either way.

Do you do warranty work?

No. I’m an independent mechanic, not a factory dealer, so manufacturer warranty repairs go through your brand’s dealer. I’ll tell you up front if a job is better handled there.
